Chapter 1
POTATO DIET
I started the potato diet yesterday, and it is WEIRD!
First, I bought about 8 bags of different kinds of potatoes. Russet, White, Big red, Gold, Sweet potatoes.
I started the diet on Friday morning, Aug. 25. I didn't know how many pounds of potatoes I was supposed to eat. For an active woman, it's 4.6. But that is well over 1,000 calories per day, and I don't think I can burn that many calories.
I do exercise for a half hour every day, but I'm trying to really lose weight.
So for breakfast on Friday, I cut up two large red potatoes (I love their texture when cooked). Those I boiled. Then I took one each of the other potatoes, sliced them thinly and baked them for an hour at 400. I chose not to add salt or herbs but you sure can. I've hear of variations like ketchup, french fries, potato chips. Those were from two unrelated people who have vlogs and each lost more 100 pounds on this diet.
When the food was ready, I ate some of the red potatoes. They tasted great. First day, yeah. haha But I didn't finish them because I didn't feel hungry any more.
One of the goals for me is to get in better touch with when I am really hungry and when I am full. I also want to de-addict from artificial sweeteners and salt. I might add them back later.
I got hungry twice more on Friday, so I finished the rad boiled potatoes and then the tray of slices. The slices were crispy and some were REALLY good.
I drank my usual 1 shot of vodka in a LOT of tonic, and I had what might have been an allergic reaction! My face always gets pink when I drink (Asian Flushing Syndrome) but this time, my face turned actually RED and it was burning. Not just my cheeks but my forehead and chin. I had to get something cold and then I rubbed liquid lanocain on my face, then took a benedryl.
I slept fine until 2 am when SEVERE NAUSEA hit. If I had leaned over a toilet, I would have urped. This went on till 6 am! I went in and out of sleep because it's hard to sleep when you feel really nauseated.
Finally, I took some pepto bismol. It helped enough for me to fall asleep for 3 hours.

GOOD NEWS! I lost almost 2 pounds on my first day
Today, I found out that all the bags of potatoes weigh 5 pounds. So if I can remove, say, 1 pound from each bag, I will have 4 pounds. I can estimate.
So today was a whole bag of what was left of the big red potatoes. I cleaned them, cut them up, put them in casserole dishes, added a little water, covered with foil and cook for an hour at 400.
They came out really well. They are so delicious.
But my stomach is in shock or something. It's right on the border of nausea, and is not motivating me to eat many potatoes. I can't finish my lunch portion, which was a small Thai bowl with about 20 chunks of the cooked red potatoes in there.
Now there is a HUGE entire casserole dish full of potatoes already cooked. It is a very huge amount. I am a big eater, but something about this way of eating is making me not want to eat, even tho the potatoes are absolutely delicious, even without salt or butter.
Oh, the guy that lost 110 pounds I think it was, he put butter and salt and all kinds of stuff on his baked potatoes. I guess he was losing weight so fast, he could do that.
I am only on this diet for one reason. About 2 months ago, after having lost 70 pounds and having no idea how I did that (which is weird) the weight stayed right in place for almost 2 years, then started to go UP! 'By the time it was up by 12 pounds, I got scared.
So I tried every diet. Dukan, all meat, low carb, no carb, eating 100 calories every 90 minutes, anything there was, I tried it. I would give it a week and if nothing happened, I switched to another diet.
If this potato diet doesn't work, I am going to have to invent something that involves starvation, because I was writing down the times, and quantities and exactly what I was eating, on those diets and NEVER cheated. Wasn't even tempted to cheat because of how scared I was.
Yes, I had my thyroid checked. Everything.
So, oh POTATO DIET, come through for me!
